The Sustainability Promise

Sustainability is a hugely important part of the Jay Blades X G Plan collection and the collection has been designed with this in mind. Read on to discover the steps that G Plan are taking to minimise their impact on the environment and deliver on their sustainability promise.

 1. Sustainable Fabrics

G Plan have added sustainable fabric options to their latest collection, to offer customers a responsible choice. As part of the collection, they offer a sustainable Warwick tweed fabric available across the ranges. This fabric is made from 100% recycled olefin yarns and produced from converted pre-consumer textile waste. During this process there is zero water consumption which saves 250 litres of water per sofa, and it also doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals.

 2. Timber & Timber Frame Guarantee

One effective way to minimise G Plan's impact on the environment is to build furniture that lasts and that’s why they offer a 25-year guarantee on their timber frames. G Plan are committed to sourcing the timber and timber products in the furniture from responsibly managed forests where environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable practices are maintained.

 3. Cushion Fillings

Working with their suppliers on responsible cushion filling options. G Plan's latest collection features 100% recyclable polyester fibre back cushions. All of their back cushions are made using 100% recyclable polyester fibre from recycled plastic waste, produced by their supplier Fibreline. The average sofa cushion uses the equivalent of 100 plastic bottles.

 4. Springs

All G Plan seat springs are made by the supplier, Wade Springs. All springs supplied are not treated or coated which makes them 100% recyclable. Their springs are also built to last, another effective way to minimise their impact on the environment.

 5. Responsibly Sourced Wood

G Plan are working with their supplier to deliver 100% of their upholstered products using materials from responsibly managed forests.

 6. Fabric, Leather and Carbon Footprint

G Plan have partnered with suppliers who are working towards sustainable practices to reduce their carbon footprint. All the suppliers that G Plan have partnered with are looking at new processes and innovations to minimise their impact on the environment as a business.

To name a few, Crest (G Plan's leather supplier) are implementing initiatives to reduce energy consumption, optimising tanning drums to decrease water usage and increase energy efficiency, ensuring that all water that is consumed is cleaned and reused wherever possible. Wade Springs (G Plan's spring suppliers) are also implementing new equipment such as solar panels and low energy light fittings to reduce their carbon footprint.

 7 . Packaging

All cardboard and plastic bags are 100% recyclable. G Plan's cardboard is made with at least 80% recycled material and G Plan's bags are also made with 30% recycled material.
